About

The Virginia Biotechnology Association (VABIO), formed in 1992, is the premier statewide non-profit trade association representing the life sciences industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nearly 200 member organizations have joined forces to make VABIO an effective advocate for the biopharmaceutical and device industries before federal, state and local policy-makers. VABIO is the official state affiliate of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), in Washington, D.C.

In the last three years, VABIO successfully lobbied for the passage of Virginia’s Refundable R&D Tax Credit, state matching funds for SBIR awards, a 100% capital gains tax exclusion on investments in bioscience companies in Virginia, as well as an overhaul of the state’s “Angel Investor Tax Credit” that provides a 50% credit on a bioscience investment up to $50,000. In addition to numerous networking and business match-making events for member organizations, the Association also provides discount programs and exclusive incentives to help members reduce costs and meet the expert connections they need to thrive.

Professional service firms, research labs and all manner of bioscience companies are welcome to participate. To join VABIO, please visit us at www.vabio.org, on Twitter @vabio or via our Facebook page, Facebook.com/virginiabio.
