The Virginia Biotechnology Association (VaBIO) delivers vital networking and business connections through our many events and programs but also via social networks online. VaBIO recently launched virtual networking groups so that our members can connect and interact at anytime. What is LinkedIn? According to the LinkedIn Web site, “LinkedIn is an online network of more than 14 million experienced professionals from around the world, representing 150 industries. When you join, you create a profile that summarizes your professional accomplishments. Your profile helps you find and be found by former colleagues, clients, and partners. You can add more connections by inviting trusted contacts to join LinkedIn and connect to you. Many professionals advance their careers and business goals by counting on industry and professional groups, alumni organizations, industry conferences and corporate alumni groups to help them make vital new business contacts. LinkedIn Groups offers extra features to group-based organizations to help their members stay in touch with one another and discover powerful new business contacts within their groups and beyond.”
What happens when I join the group? When you join the VaBIO LinkedIn group, the VaBIO logo appears in the “Groups” box on your profile, and you can see the names of others who belong to the group.

The VaBIO Facebook Group:
What is Facebook? According to Facebook’s Web site, “Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.”
What happens when I join the group? If you are not logged in, you will be asked to do so before being redirected to our group. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will need to create a new account to see the group. In the group, you can see the photos of other people who are members of the VaBIO Facebook group. The group also has a discussion forum and a “wall” where you can post comments, like in a guest book. There is also a calendar of upcoming events that VaBIO is either hosting or sponsoring. Also, you can upload photos to share with the group.
