Joe Meredith of Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center Receives Award

Joe Meredith, president of the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, was recently honored by the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) with its 2014 Career Achievement Award.

The award, which was presented in the AURP’s international conference held last month, recognizes individuals who have made research and science parks a central focus of their careers, who have achieved success with one or more parks over a substantial period of time, and who have received peer recognition for advancing the field of research and science parks.

Since 1993, the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center has grown to more than 160 private companies and research centers, employing more than 2,700 employees on approximately 230 acres. The research park was named AURP’s 2010 Outstanding Research/Science Park and is now a member of the Academy of Outstanding Research Parks. Virginia Tech offers 225 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to more than 31,000 students and manages a research portfolio of $496 million.
