Nutriati Makes it to Launch Tennessee’s 36|86 Conference

Virginia Bio member, Nutriati Inc, has won a spot in Launch Tennessee’s 36|86 conference where it will have the chance to win $50,000 while being exposed to at least 45 capital firms. The company won its spot after competing in Launch Tennessee’s 36|86 Southern Series event in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., last week. The conference will take place in June.

“We felt very fortunate to win because I would say the majority of the emphasis was IT-oriented,” said Richard Kelly, the company’s co-founder and CEO. “To be picked as a scientific ag-tech food company, that really felt good.”

Nutriati has developed gluten-free chickpea flour as well as chickpea powder to help boost the protein levels in foods. Chickpeas offer a healthy alternative to most high-calorie foods.

Nutriati chickpea powder is being testing with Next Food’s GoodBelly, a probiotic shake seeking an additional burst of protein, Kelly said. Canyon Bakehouse in Colorado, which is using the chickpea flour to make gluten-free bread, is in the product development stage.
