Each year, the National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer selects the 36 best university start ups in the country. Sanyal Biotechnology was selected from the more than 200 applicants as one of the 36 best university startups. Sanyal’s co-founder and chief medical officer, Dr. Arun J. Sanyal, is a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine in Richmond. Sanyal Bio offers proprietary mice for contract research services to help others find treatment for liver disease.

“We were really excited about it,” said Rebecca Caffrey, co-founder and chief executive officer of Sanyal Bio.
