Meet the Virginia Bio team
Jeffrey M. Gallagher, CEO
M. Gallagher, CEO of Virginia Bio, is responsible for leading the premier
statewide trade group that promotes the considerable scientific and economic
impact of the life sciences industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Prior to taking on the leadership of
Virginia Bio in May 2012, Jeff was a co-founder and served as VP & General
Counsel for Lyotropic Therapeutics. This
small specialty pharma company used its proprietary formulation technology to
create new drug products based on both NCIs and already approved API for
license, further development and commercialization by mid and large
pharma. Previously he practiced corporate law in Richmond, focusing on
new technology company formation, international business and intellectual
property transactions. He was a co-founder and longtime Chairman of the
Richmond based nonprofit World Pediatric Project. He holds an A.B. in Government from Harvard,
a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and an LL.M in Public International
Law from the University of Virginia School of Law. He resides with his
family in the Ginter Park area of Richmond, VA.
Sherri Halloran, CAE, Vice President Membership and Programs
Sherri Halloran, Vice President Membership and Programs, came to Virginia Bio in August, 2008. She is responsible for membership development, member satisfaction, communications, marketing and networking events. She brings a variety of experience to the position, most recently from her role as the Field Marketing Manager in Virginia for Red Bull Energy Drink. She studied Business Administration and Marketing at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and Montgomery College. In 2015 she earned the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, as one of only 4600 association executives nationwide. Having lived in nine different states and Japan as part of a military family, she settled in Richmond and currently resides in the Ginter Park area of Richmond, VA.
Liz Kelly, Executive Assistant and Office Administrator
Liz Kelly, Executive Assistant to the CEO and Office Administrator, joined Virginia Bio in July 2015. Liz is responsible for the day to day operations management of the office and provides executive secretarial support to the CEO. Prior to joining Virginia Bio Liz was a regulatory submissions contractor at Altria. Liz possesses experience with biotech start-ups and spin-offs including Millennium Pharmaceuticals during the founding years. She is passionate about the biotech industry and is eager to utilize her skills to help our members better humanity.
Liz has a bachelor's in finance and accounting management and a master's in project management both from Northeastern University. She resides in Midlothian, VA with her family.
Caron Trumbo, Communications Director and Industry Specialist
Caron Trumbo, Director of Communications and Industry Specialist, joined Virginia Bio in January 2016. She is responsible for communications, networking events and database management. Caron brings a unique background to the team. She studied Genetics at Texas A&M University and worked as a lab manager at Randolph Macon College before trading in her lab coat for the start up world. She managed a co-working space in Palo Alto and worked as a life science sales rep. She currently resides in Church Hill with her husband and giant goldendoodle.
L. Stephone Jones, Accountant/Bookkeeper
Stephone Jones has been the part time Accountant/Bookkeeper for Virginia Bio since 2005, and has been working as an accountant with the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park, and many tenants since 2004. Before joining VABIO, he was a Police Officer with Hanover County for three years. He graduated fro Lee Davis High School and went on to get his BA fro Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Stephone has one son that is currently attending Morehead State University. He is also an avid sports fan.
