Governor Terry McAuliffe will attend the Biotechnology Industry Organization's International Convention in San Diego, CA. this June, the first time a Virginia Governor has attended the convention since 2009.  The 2014 BIO International Convention is expected to draw over 15,000 industry leaders from 60 different countries and 48 states.

Governor McAuliffe will attend the conference Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday morning, June 25. The Governor will have a robust schedule that includes both private and public events.  He will participate in a number of official BIO events, including the BIO/Battelle State Initiatives Report 2014 session. His delegation will include Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones, Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Todd Haymore, and representatives from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership.

“The Governor’s participation at BIO will be high profile, create a buzz and draw attention to the strength of the industry in Virginia, and the state’s commitment to support and grow bio commercialization,” said Virginia Bio CEO Jeff Gallagher.  “This makes it a great year for Virginia companies to be at BIO.  The Governor’s visit is one more indication of how important the industry is to this administration, and its commitment to make good things happen.”
