The Science Museum of Virginia is soliciting nominations for Virginia's Outstanding Scientist Award for 2015.

For the past 31 years, this program has honored Virginia scientists who, through their research and commitment to science, have made a significant contribution to basic scientific research that extends the boundaries of any field of science. This contribution should be easily recognizable as a definite advance of knowledge or significant technological development.

The award will be presented in Richmond on March 22, 2016 at the Science Museum’s Outstanding STEM Awards reception.

Any living person in any field of the sciences, including mathematics, technology, and the physical, biological, or health sciences, may be nominated. Scientists whose work cannot be published for security reasons may also be nominated.

The selection committee consists of a distinguished panel of internationally renowned Virginia scientists.

Nominations are due November 6, 2015. For more information, contact Nina Johnson at the Science Museum of Virginia at 804-864-1499 or
