Douglas Eisner Selected as New CEO of AgroSpheres

AgroSpheres announces the selection of Douglas Eisner, JD, MBA to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
“We are extremely pleased to have Doug on board. His expertise will help take us to the next level,” said Ameer Shakeel, CTO. “Doug is a proven leader and we are looking forward to learning from him as we grow AgroSpheres to its fullest potential,” said Payam Pourtaheri, COO.
Doug was the Chief Operating Officer and a co-founder of GrassRoots Biotechnology, an agricultural biotechnology company that was spun-out of Duke University in 2007. As COO, Doug helped manage GrassRoots’ 5-year strategic alliance with Monsanto. The team grew the company to 25 employees and over $4.5 million in annual revenue. Monsanto acquired GrassRoots in 2013. Doug began his career as an attorney, first as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and then as a commercial litigator at White & Case and Edwards & Angell.

Doug joins during a crucial stage of growth for AgroSpheres. His experience will help AgroSpheres navigate negotiations with corporate partners and efficiently complete technical milestones necessary for scale and commercialization.
