Polymer Solutions Completes Christiansburg Move

As reported in The Roanoke Times, in Polymer Solutions’ old facility technicians would sometimes find themselves wandering the halls with samples from one laboratory to another.
“The old site for the company was in the Blacksburg Industrial Park in a building that wasn’t designed to host labs, so the building sometimes felt like a maze to the company’s employees”, said Caitlyn Scaggs, marketing director for the company.
But, that won’t be a problem any longer. The company that specializes in chemical analysis, physical testing and research and development services moved into a new $2.9 million facility in Christiansburg’s Falling Branch Corporate Park.
Originally started in Blacksburg chemist Jim Rancourt’s garage when he was a graduate student, Polymer Solutions has moved around Montgomery County several times. The new Falling Branch location offers the amenities that should keep the company from moving any time soon.
Located just off of Interstate 81, there’s space on the property for an additional 10,000 square feet of lab space if the company continues to grow. The Park’s design and the other successful companies present made the space attractive to Polymer Solutions.
The new building features two labs that keep departments in centralized locations with their equipment. New technology, including centralized climate control that can keep humidity and temperatures in the labs at pinpointed levels, will make tests easier to perform for technicians.
“Here, it’s state-of-the-art,” said Cynthia Rancourt, chief operating officer of the company and wife of Jim Rancourt. “There’s more control over the conditions that we need to ensure that the laboratory testing is exactly what it needs to be and it’s highly reliable.”
“We are so well positioned here for growth,” Cynthia Rancourt added.
