Introducing Creo Wellness

Two Richmond area health care executives are working together to create a new health care venture, Creo Wellness.
Peter Bernard, former chief executive officer of Bon Secours Virginia Health System and Bon Secours Richmond Health System, along with Tonya Mallory, co-founder and former CEO of Health Diagnostic Laboratory, have co-founded Creo Wellness LLC.
Creo works with corporate clients to implement health wellness programs that encourage employees to adopt healthier lifestyles. It uses various technologies to create personalized plans for each employee, Bernard said.
Currently, Creo has 15 employees ranging from technologists and sales staff members to nutritionists and health coaches.
With all of the corporate wellness companies that have started recently, Creo attempts to differentiate itself by working with each individual employee.
“We work with the healthy employees to keep them healthy, as well,” Bernard said.
Creo’s health coaches don’t cater just to high-risk employees — such as those with obesity or diabetes. If an employee without any risk factors wants to create a plan so they can run a 5K, for example, they have access to Creo’s health coaches — who are available through video chat, phone calls or through the website’s dashboard — to help them create a plan.
Additionally, Creo offers biometric screenings so employees can understand if they are at risk for a chronic disease, along with a host of resources ranging from exercise videos to nutritional guides and recipes.
It also uses the rules engine software system that creates a personal plan for each employee, using data from blood test results, behavioral assessments and health habits.
The computer system becomes more personalized the more employees use it. It makes suggestions for them based on their desires for their personal health along with what their blood test results and screenings actually show about their health.
