The Department of Defense releases SBIR/STTR solicitations on the first Wednesday of every month. Join this virtual training series for detailed instruction on preparing a proposal to meet the requirements of the DOD, including both technical and commercialization plans and navigating the submission process. Over $2B is awarded by DOD annually in SBIR/STTR. Presented by DOD SBIR/STTR experts, this program will also cover:
• An understanding of the differences between DOD components (Yes, Army, Navy, Air Force, DARPA, etc. all have different ways they structure the program!)
• Tips on how to identify a topic – how to look for current topics, look back at prior topics, forecasting for future topics, understanding how “Open Topics” work at each agency, etc.
• The importance of talking to Technical Points of Contact during the pre-release period
• How to register and utilize the DOD SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal
• Writing to meet the reviewers’ expectations.
• Common pitfalls and how to avoid them, and more!
This is a three-part course over the course of 3 consecutive days. Each session is 1.5 hours long.Dec. 2, 2025 DOD Program Overview — An overview of the DOD SBIR/STTR program and various DOD components. Learn how their programs differ and how to find the right solicitation for your technology, how to contact the Technical Points of Contact (TPOC) as well as how to influence future topics.
Dec. 3, 2025 DOD SBIR Proposal Development — Detailed review of the DOD’s proposal rules, not only on the steps to preparing a DOD proposal, but how to make each section succinct and compelling. Includes many practical tips and advice on pitfalls to avoid for each section of the proposal.
Dec. 4, 2025 DOD SBIR Proposal Development, continued — Wrapping up submission requirements and how to develop a project budget- including how to write a budget justification.
