ATCC Receives New CDC Award to Advance Influenza Testing and Surveillance

ATCC has been selected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a new contract to support serological assays for the detection and characterization of influenza viruses. The award, valued at up to $7.3 million over the 5-year contract period (contract 75D30126C21030), will support CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Influenza Division, through the testing of human serum samples using hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assays, as well as the development of a new serology platform comparable to HAI testing.

Influenza viruses continue to pose an ongoing threat to public health due to their ability to evolve, spread, and cause seasonal outbreaks as well as potential pandemics. Serological assays provide critical data on how influenza viruses evolve and how immunity develops across populations, informing surveillance and vaccine-related research. Through this work, ATCC will contribute to the generation of high-quality serological data used to characterize circulating and emerging influenza strains.

“Reliable serology is essential to understanding how influenza viruses evolve and how immune responses change over time,” said Becky Bradford, senior vice president, ATCC Federal Solutions. “By supporting CDC’s surveillance and research activities, this work will help generate critical data for public health decision-making.”

Under this contract, ATCC will provide technical support for sample testing and assay-related activities that help CDC evaluate and characterize influenza viruses. In addition to routine testing, ATCC will assist in developing a next-generation serology platform intended to deliver results comparable to HAI assays while offering greater flexibility for future influenza studies.

ATCC brings more than 20 years of experience supporting CDC and NIAID influenza programs and extensive expertise in biological standards, assay development, and large-scale scientific program execution. This experience includes managing the CDC International Reagent Resource and NIAID BEI Resources Program, delivering high-volume testing and quality-controlled biological materials to support public health response efforts.

“This award builds on ATCC’s more than two decades of work supporting CDC programs,” said Eldar Imanverdi, senior director of business development, ATCC Federal Solutions. “We look forward to applying our scientific and operational capabilities to support this important mission.”

Through this contract, ATCC will help CDC maintain critical influenza surveillance capabilities while advancing next-generation approaches to serological testing.

Transforming the finance function in life sciences: Empower scalable growth

Life sciences companies operate in one of the most complex business environments. Long R&D timelines, limited early-stage revenue, and dependence on external funding create a financial landscape where every decision carries strategic weight. In this context, finance is not a back-office function. It is an operational engine that drives whether a company survives, scales, or
